Brooke Leeder & Dancers
Scott Ewen performed with Brooke Leeder & Dancers in Structural Dependency, presented as part of the 2021 Perth Festival. The work explored the complex relationships that bind people together, examining themes of connection, reliance, and human interdependence through powerful physicality and intricate partnering. He also appeared in Leeder's dance film Structural, created for and presented at the opening of WA Museum Boola Bardip. Working across both stage and screen, Scott collaborated in works that challenged conventional performance spaces and celebrated the expressive potential of contemporary dance within major cultural events.
Sue Peacock
Scott worked independently with acclaimed Perth choreographer Sue Peacock during the creative development of Reflect. As a contributing dancer in the research and development process, he collaborated closely with the choreographer in exploring movement concepts, creative ideas, and choreographic material that informed the work's evolution. The experience provided valuable insight into Peacock's distinctive creative methodology and further strengthened Scott's understanding of contemporary dance-making and artistic inquiry. While he did not perform in the final production due to commencing a full-time contract with Australian Dance Theatre, the project formed an important part of his early artistic development.
Australian Dance Theatre
Scott performed as a Company Dancer with Australian Dance Theatre under the artistic direction of internationally renowned choreographer Garry Stewart. During his time with the company, he toured extensively throughout Australia and internationally, performing in acclaimed works including Proximity, G, Be Your Self, Objekt, and Birdbrain. He also performed in Nought, created by guest choreographer Daniel Jaber. Working within one of Australia's leading contemporary dance companies, Scott contributed to the creation and performance of physically demanding and conceptually innovative works recognised on the world stage. Beyond performance, he was entrusted with the role of European Rehearsal Director for Multiverse. His experiences with Australian Dance Theatre continue to influence his choreographic voice, creative process, and commitment to artistic excellence.
ilDance - Sweden
Scott performed with the internationally acclaimed Swedish contemporary dance company ilDance in Godlike, an international co-production bringing together six performers from across the globe. The production featured two full-length works, Between Us. Here, There, Yet Nowhere by Artistic Director Israel Aloni and One Of Us by renowned choreographer Odelya Kuperberg. Touring throughout Sweden and Israel, the work explored the power of belief and the ways in which concepts such as love, religion, art, and identity can profoundly shape human behaviour.
Performed in spiritually significant spaces including churches and other cultural venues, Godlike investigated the ritualistic and transformative nature of movement, music, and human connection. Working alongside an international ensemble and leading choreographic voices from Europe and the Middle East, Scott further developed his artistic practice within a culturally diverse and highly collaborative creative environment. The experience deepened his interest in contemporary dance as a powerful medium for exploring the complexities of the human condition.
Expressions Dance Company
Scott performed as a Company Dancer with Expressions Dance Company, now Australasian Dance Collective, under the artistic direction of acclaimed choreographer Natalie Weir. During his time with the company, he performed throughout Australia and internationally in celebrated productions including 4Seasons and Everyday Requiem, works renowned for their powerful storytelling, emotional depth, and theatricality. He also collaborated with some of Australia's leading contemporary choreographers, performing in works by Stephanie Lake, Jake McLarnon, and Dominic Wong. As part of a collaboration with Queensland Ballet's Bespoke season, Scott performed in a work by acclaimed choreographer Gabrielle Nankivell.
Buzz Dance Theatre
Scott Ewen performed as a guest artist with Buzz Dance Theatre in Shaun Parker's Trolleys, presented at Perth's Awesome Festival. Blending contemporary dance, physical theatre, and interactive performance, the work engaged young audiences through creativity, play, and movement. The experience further expanded Scott's performance practice across diverse audiences and theatrical contexts.
Tasdance
Scott worked with Tasdance, now Assembly 197, under the artistic direction of Annie Greig, contributing to the creative development of new Australian contemporary dance works. During this period, he collaborated on the development of Larissa McGowan's Transducer and Marnie Palomares' Somewhere Else, engaging in the research, experimentation, and creative processes that informed each work's evolution. These opportunities allowed him to work alongside leading Australian choreographers and gain valuable insight into the creation of original contemporary dance repertoire. While he did not perform in the final productions due to commencing a full-time contract with Australian Dance Theatre, the experience significantly enriched his artistic development and understanding of choreographic practice.
Chrissie Parrott
Scott collaborated with renowned Australian choreographer Chrissie Parrott during the development of her contemporary dance work Reign. Working as part of the creative process, he contributed to the exploration and generation of movement material, engaging with the research and experimentation that underpinned the work's development. The opportunity to work alongside one of Australia's most respected dance artists expanded his understanding of choreographic practice and the creation of new contemporary repertoire. Although he was unable to perform in the final production due to commencing a full-time contract with Australian Dance Theatre, the experience remains a significant chapter in his artistic journey.
